This theme addresses frameworks and quality standards to support the development of basic, pre-clinical, and clinical research including innovation and real-world data, to translate new knowledge and discoveries into the clinical environment.

Organisation of core research capacity
- State-of-the-art research platforms are available for the whole research community
- Platforms are coordinated and include biobanks, Clinical Trial Units and Molecular Tumour Boards
- Research platforms have an integrated data infrastructure
Translational research framework
- A support framework and process for translational research and implementation of results
- Scope includes a Technology Transfer Office (TTO), and formalised collaborations with industry and academia
Collaborations and networks
- Scope includes academia, research institutions, healthcare organizations, industry, and patient advocacy groups
- Participation in national and international collaborative initiatives to increase the impact of cancer research
Education and training
- Programs for patients, caregivers, and advocacy groups to understand and engage in translational research
- Training modules for researchers, clinicians and patients on translational research
