This document is the European Commission’s “Questions and Answers on the European Health Data Space” (EHDS), published on 24 April 2024.
It explains the EHDS proposal, a health-specific data sharing framework aimed at:
- Establishing clear rules, common standards, and practices for electronic health data use.
- Creating digital infrastructures and a governance framework for data access and sharing.
- Enabling use of health data by patients, health professionals, researchers, policymakers, and industry for purposes such as research, innovation, patient safety, statistics, and regulation.
